Locations
A location is a site, building, floor or area that visits, registrations, kiosks and emails belong to. Each location can follow the global settings or override parts of them for that location only.
Start here
- Find and Add Locations - the list, adding, editing and deleting a location.
- Overview - a summary of the location and where its settings are inherited or overridden.
- General - the name, address, key contact, map position and default location flag.
- Users - the users assigned to the location.
- Managers - the users who manage the location and approve its registrations.
- Visit Passes - the visit passes recorded at the location, with a Show All switch.
- Self-Registration - the self-registration form, group registration (with a use global group settings tick) and reviewer for the location.
- Invite Email - the invitation email visitors receive for the location.
- Kiosk App - the Kiosk App Overrides, Display and language, and Kiosk fields (this location) sections for devices at the location.
- Notifications - who is notified about visits at the location.
- Documents - documents stored against the location.
- Advanced - company name and Override Visitor ACL (each with its own inherit tick), and pass validity, with Status-Based Access per Location under it.
Global settings and location overrides
Most override tabs use a Use global … tick box. Ticked, the location follows the global value. Unticked, the location uses the value set on its own tab. A few tabs use different controls:
| Tab | Control |
|---|---|
| Notifications | Inherit global settings or Custom |
| Advanced | Inherited, Override Pass Validity, a Use system setting choice and Inherit system setting choices |
| Self-Registration reviewer | Use global setting |
A new location inherits every global setting, so nothing needs to be configured until a location must differ.
What a location is used for
- Registrations and visits are filed against a location.
- A device (kiosk, Guard app or reader) is assigned to a location on the Devices page and takes that location’s Kiosk App overrides.
- Location details and the company name feed the emails and SMS messages that visitors receive.
- Location managers approve registrations when manager approval is on.
- Status-based access can differ per location.
