Guard

EvTrack Guard is the Android app a security officer carries at the checkpoint. The officer scans visit passes and access cards, verifies drivers and passengers, enrols walk-in visitors, records vehicles and temperatures, and prints badges. Everything the app asks for is set in EvTrack; the handset only needs a device record and an officer login.

Before you start

  • An Android handset (Android 6 or later) on a network that reaches your EvTrack server.
  • A valid EvTrack licence. Configuration > Server Settings > License shows its state; with an invalid licence every handset is refused.
  • Your locations created, so the guard device can be placed at the right one.
  • An officer account for each person who carries a handset. Its role decides what the app lets them do:
    • EvTrack Guard App: Allow Access Control (Scan RF/ID/QR/PIN) is required. Without it the officer can log in but the app receives no settings and cannot scan.
    • Visitor Management: Add is also required to scan: every scan, entry, exit and walk-in enrolment the handset sends is checked against it.
    • Personnel Management: People - List lets the officer look up people on the handset.

The ready-made Guards role has the first two. Add Personnel Management: People - List to it, or to your own role, if officers need to look people up.

Set up a guard handset

  1. Register the Device and Install the App
  2. Configure the Guard: what the officer is asked at every step.
  3. If something is wrong, see Guard Troubleshooting.
